VVV TL;DR VVV

No but really, I'm sure it's a sincere heart-felt goodbye. Go read it. I know I will.

In other news happy late 4th of July! I went down to PA and set off some fireworks. Fun stuff.

Also last friday I started work on a neat pixely detective game. It's a wee little side project. Just playing around with lighting and realistic sounds. It'll be fun stuff. This is all I have right now, no story whatsoever.
If you've got some super swell ideas for a pixely detective game, comment and I'll be super excited.

I hate long goodbyes.

I stop paying attention halfway through.

Looks nice, especially the lighting. Is it just a dark vignette with different alpha levels?
I can see that you're probably going to be going with a film noire feel, and it looks awesome. Can't wait to play it!

Very observant hombre. I did the lighting in photoshop with the pen tool and some gradients, then overlayed it in flash. Added a dark vignette for atmosphere. Anyway, thanks!

Screenshot looks great. :)

thank you very much :D

Good luck on your detective game! Looks cool, brah.

Hopefully it'll actually get done! I'll try my best.

The lighting looks really weird for a pixel game, but it's still pretty cool, looks fun!

Yeah it's supposed to be more realistic lighting and sound effects. Just sort of testing out new ideas and whatnot.

tldr

pretty much yeah

The perspective on the sidewalk doesn't quite work with the door.

uh oh. I think I know what you mean, but if you could expand that would be muy helpful.

I can help write a story for you. Especially since you live in NY.

I'm looking less for a writer and more for a fun person to spitball ideas around with. If you want to help out that'd be excellent. ;D

Also NY > Anywhere else

That's a girl's wallet.

By the looks of it, the vanishing point is in the center of the door. The sidewalk doesn't align to this.

The best solution is to determine a specific vanishing point, and use the line tool to draw all of the cracks in the sidewalk. You can then trace over the lines with pixel art. It isn't very noticeable if you aren't familiar with perspective drawing, though, so I wouldn't sweat it if it'd be lots of work to change the sidewalk.

Perspective drawing IS very useful in making backgrounds for flash movies and games though, and it doesn't take long to learn. Practice it whenever you get the chance. A good example of using this type of drawing in a flash is this shitty movie I made for the movie jam: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /560898

Ah yes, I've learned about vanishing points, I just hardly use them. I'm not much of an artist. But thanks for the tutorial and tips, and I like your movie!

hi!
